Brighton half – anything’s possible!
What an incredible day! Perfect weather, well trained clients and superbly well organised event. I had six runners in the Brighton half marathon today – and they ALL ran to plan. To say I’m oozing pride just doesn’t do it justice – I’ve been quite tearful all day! For most, this was their first half marathon and there’s always a huge fear of the unknown in this type of event. But you can’t fault the Brighton half organisers and this is SUCH a superb event!
If you’re looking for inspiration to start running – look no further than Ros. She only took up running aged 50, and today ran the half marathon in 1 hour and 42 minutes. Simply sensational! Yes, she’s worked hard, but Ros would be the first to tell you that once you can run 5k, you just have to build up your distance and after that, any really is possible! And if you’re reading this thinking, ‘yes, but I can’t even run 5k!’, then have a look here and join us on our beginners’ running course!
And then there’s Ruth, who ran this race last year and today ran it TWENTY THREE minutes faster! That’s what consistent training does for you. And then Lou, Jade, Jo and Claire all ran their first half today. First, but not their last! They were already talking about next year in our post race celebration…
From the excitement at meeting up in our ‘uniform’ early this morning, to the gun going at the start, the grit and determination all the way round to the champagne at the end – this was an amazing day to remember.
Ladies – I salute you. Oozing pride and running out of tissues!
